Roses > Shrub > Constance Spry
Climbing English Rose, by Austin. Purchased from Heirloom Roses. Despite its susceptibility to black spot and anthracnose, this is a robust plant that is still going after 15+ years. It should be treated as a climber rather than a shrub as its 10-12 foot canes grow like bamboo and need a lot of space. Although unlike bamboo the canes are thin and supple and need to be trained on a sturdy support like a fence or a wall. The canes are very prickly so don't think you'll be able to handle this one without gloves. Blooms once a year. One of my favorites.
