Climbing English Rose, by Austin. Purchased from David Austin Roses. Planted in Spring of 2004. A very vigorous and healthy plant. Its canes grow straight up about 7-8 feet. Their rigidity makes them difficult to train, but can be grown as a tall, free-standing shrub if pruned hard. Disease-free. Sets many hips. Its only fault is that the colors tend to wash out in the strong sunlight we get here. I imagine this is less of a problem in England. You may rarely catch the apricot tones (photo above) in cooler, cloudy weather. More often you'll see pale pink (see photo right).
