Roses > Shrub > James Mason

A modern Gallica, by Beales. Purchased from The Uncommon Rose. Planted in Summer of 2004. Produces single, bright red flowers with slightly more petals than Scharlachglut. Also like Scharlachglut, its color tends to wash out very quickly in our strong sunlight. You'll only see red flowers if the buds open on an overcast day. This is one of the roses that grew very well during a two year period of neglect between 2007-2009. During this time, the roses in the garden received no pruning, fertilizing, weeding, or supplemental watering. This rose showed no cane dieback or other evidence of disease.

Resistant to blackspot
