Here are some of our treasured rose nurseries that have closed during the last decade.

Amity Heritage Roses - A large selection of own-root roses. They'd send the largest, healthiest band-sized plants you could get anywhere.

The Uncommon Rose - As the name implies, their catalog was an inspired selection of unique or hard-to-find roses. They exclusively carried new introductions by the contemporary hybridizer, Paul Barden, but fortunately you can still buy his roses at Rogue Valley Roses.

Vintage Gardens - They just recently closed. Was one of my favorite websites for buying own-root roses. They had thousands of varieties to browse/search, and boasted the largest inventory of antique roses in the US. Lots of useful rose information on the site. It's a virtual online reference book with beautiful illustrations. Although their retail operations are closed, you can support their efforts to preserve rare and historic roses by joining The Friends of Vintage Roses through the Heritage Rose Foundation.
